Dryopteris marginalis. Leatherwood Fern or Marginal Wood Fern or Eastern Wood Fern.
Dryopteris marginalis sports beautiful thick leathery leaves. It is a beautiful addition to any woodland or shade garden. Sturdy North American east coast native, it forms a civilized clump that will do well in dry shade conditions once established. Often found in shaded nooks and crevices in rocky ledges. Gets about 18 inches high. Zones 3 – 8.
